Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Lake Victoria Serena Hotel
Arrival and transfer to your hotel, briefing about the entire trip. Dinner and overnight Lake Victoria Serena Hotel
Day 2- Kibale national park
Breakfast and transfer to Kibaale forest national park along with a Green journeys tour guide, via Mubedde the route that is well endowed with several vegetation on the road sides. Dinner and overnight Primate Lodge/ Ndali lodge (B, L, D)
Day 3 -Chimpanzee trekking
Early morning head for Chimpanzee trekking, once you come across the magnificent species, get to enjoy their day to day way of life. Later enjoy a nature walk on which you may view various bird species that the park is endowed with. Dinner and overnight Primate Lodge/ Ndali lodge (B, L, D)
Day 4 -Queen Elizabeth national park
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park, on arrival visit the crater area plus the salt mine. Dinner and overnight Mweya safari lodge/ Jacana safari lodge (B, L, D)
Day 5 -Game viewing and Launch cruise
Early morning game drive in the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth national park, later have a Launch cruise on the Kazinga channel, viewing Hippos, Crocodiles, various bird species, you may also see other wild animals at the shores having a drink. Dinner and overnight Mweya safari lodge/ Jacana safari lodge (B, L, D)
Day 6 -Chimpanzee trekking at the Kyambura gorge
Head for Chimp trekking at Kyambura gorge, followed by a forest walk in the Imaramagambo forest on which you may view various bird species and other primates. Dinner and over night Mweya safari Lodge (B, L, D)
Day 7 -Lake Bunyonyi
Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi passing through Ishasha plains where you may see the tree climbing lions en-route, head south west through Kabale’s hills also referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’. Dinner and over Heritage Lodge – Habuhoro Island (B, L, D)
Day 8 –Lake Bunyonyi boat ride and Volcanoes national park- Rwanda
Catch the early morning sun on a boat ride on the Lake Bunyonyi waters, visiting various islands that the Lake is endowed with. Later have lunch and then transfer to Northern Rwanda via Cyanika, go through all the border immigration formalities. Dinner and overnight Mountain Gorilla view lodge/ Virunga lodge/ Gorilla Nest lodge (B, L, D)
Day 9 -Gorilla tracking
Head to the park offices for pre- Gorilla tracking briefing, you will be allocated a Gorilla tracking group, later along with a Ranger guide head for this once in a life time experience with the Gorillas. Afternoon visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village providing you an insight in the beautiful Rwandan culture, also get to participate in the Community development and conservation project especially in the ‘Goats for Gorillas project’ the project that reaches out to provide a goat to a former poachers’ family, after trekking the Gorillas, you will hand over this goat to one of the families living around the Gorillas Park at the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. This is an incentive for communities to protect and conserve the gorillas and their habitat and a way for you to give back to both community and conservation. Day 10 -2nd Gorilla tracking
Early morning head for another encounter with these giant however gentle species. Later afternoon visit the little known however amazing twin Lakes ‘Burera and Ruhondo’. Dinner and overnight Mountain Gorilla view lodge/ Virunga lodge/ Gorilla Nest Lodge (B, L, D)
Day 11 – Golden monkey trekking
Early morning head for Golden monkey trekking, later afternoon visit the Ruhengeri market, and then transfer to Kigali city, the journey that is endowed with amazing rolling hills and varsity vegetation. Dinner and overnight Kigali Serena Hotel
Day 12- Kigali City tour and Airport transfer
Have a short city tour visiting the Gisozi Genocide memorial site and later head to Kigali international Airport
