Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda
Nyungwe Forest National Park is located in south western Rwanda on the southern shore of Lake Kivu close to Rwanda’s border with the neighboring Burundi. The Nyungwe Forest National Park is a 1,000 square kilometer jungle in the southern part of Rwanda The forest has several tree species with over 13 different species of primates among which are chimpanzees, Angola Colobus, the L’Hoest monkeys and many others. There are more than 280 different types of birds in this park. The forest is the largest and most ancient Afro-Montane forest found in East and Central Africa which dates back as far as the last Ice Age.
