Day 1: Ijenda, Source of the Nile, Rutana, Gitega (start 8h30)

Visit to a tea plantation in Ijenda

Visit to the southernmost source of the Nile

Visit to Karera Falls

Transfer to Gitega, the cultural capital of Burundi in the center of the country

Day 2: Gitega (start 9h00)

Historical exploration of Gitega, including a visit to the National Museum and a walk around the old German city center

Visit to the artistic center of Lazar (sculptures, wood-carving etc)

Introduction to the famous Burundian drummers on the royal hill of Gishora, with a presentation on the historical background, the construction of drums and a spectacular drumming perfor-mance

Day 3: Ngozi (start 10h30)

Visit to a monastery in Burasira which has specialized on pineapple beer brewing

Visit to a community-run cheese factory and visit to the related farmers

Day 4 : Lacs aux Oiseaux, Banga, Bugarama, Bujumbura (start 4h00)

Early departure to enjoy a beautiful sunrise at the Lacs aux Oiseaux ("bird lakes")
